Christmas Card - Color Layering Penguin

Good Morning Dreamerz

I know it has been a while since I have been actively blogging but lots of things in the works over here at my house. But more on that in a later post.

Today's post is all about a Christmas card.

I had purchased this color layering penguin stamp and die set as a bundle at the Scrapbook Expo a year ago and I never got to use it, that is until this year. To be quite honest this is my first foray into layering stamps and I was intimidated (but now that I have done it I have a new confidence!) I made it my goal to not buy new Christmas themed stamps/dies until I used what I already owned.  Now while I still have not used all I own, I did manage to make a big dent in the Christmas category, and managed to only buy a few new stamps and dies.  We all need Christmas stamps and dies right?.

B.C.A.M. ~ A Blog Named Hero ~ Monochromatic

Good Morning Dreamerz

I am here to share a card that is for and representing a cause that is very near and dear to my heart.  Breast Cancer Awareness. Many of my friends and family have been affected by this.  I am a strong advocate for Self Exams and regularly support causes during the year for research and awareness.

So when this months challenge from A Blog Named Hero was announced and the theme was Monochromatic I knew exactly what color I would choose. I have used a couple different sets from Hero Arts and lots of PINK for my card.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a worldwide annual campaign involving thousands of organisations, to highlight the importance of breast awareness, education and research. Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point.
The good news is that most women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early. A mammogram – the screening test for breast cancer – can help find breast cancer early when it’s easier to treat. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of detecting breast cancer early. Make a difference! Spread the word about mammograms, and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved. Please Visit the Link provided below for valuable information on Breast Cancer Awareness.

SumMoreFun ~ Cherry Blossom

Good Morning Dreamerz,

It's my day to take over the SumMoreFun Designs BlogHere's my inspiration for you using: Cherry Blossom

You might remember a few weeks back to Challenge #31 where I used the Cherry Blossom set to create a shaker card.  I try to make my cards in pairs or more just in case I mess up somewhere in the design process.  Today's card is made using the second panel I had created so while it looks similar it is different.

Card Recipe:
I stamped the Cherry Blossom stamps across the bottom diagonally using versamark and applied white embossing powder and heat set the images.  Next came the ink blending using Distress Inks in Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint, and Tumbled Glass as those are 3 of the colors from the mood board. I cut the panel to A2 sized and then just used a simple sentiment from my stash to stamp on the front top corner. I affixed the panel to an A2 side folding card base layer of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb cardstock.  Finally I applied a couple sequins and clear enamel drops and the card is ready to send off.

Leafy Vines and Butterflies ~ Birthday

Good Morning Dreamerz

I am here to share 3 birthday cards, all the same design but in different color palettes.

I saw this Leafy Vines stamp set on another crafters blog and fell in love instantly.  I then searched the internet to see the other many ways it was used and I was sold.  As I have said in previous posts I am in the middle of "Birthday Card Overload" This is the first time I have used this stamp and after the first card was made I whipped up 2 more in different palettes.
I would love to say these cards were quick and easy but the easiest part was the stamping and ink blending of the Leafy Vines.

SumMoreFun ~ Challenge #33

Good Morning Dreamerz,

Today is the start of Challenge #33 on the SumMoreFun Designs BlogThe Theme/Mood Board for this challenge is so pretty.
Here's my inspiration for you using the following stamp set:
Wings Set

For today's post I wanted to share a card using a truly versatile stamp set with you.  I chose to use the Smaller of the Monarch Butterfly Wings for my card today.  I made this card at the same time I made my earlier Butterfly card except this one is just an all occasion card and could be used for male or female.

Close up detail of the embossing

Card Recipe:
I stamped the Wings which I placed very closely together on a piece of vellum then used White embossing powder and heat set.  I repeated this 2 more times. Fussy cutting is not my favorite craft task but this was actually super simple and easy to do. I die cut the floral patterned paper and then die cut the word HI from the lower corner.  I die cut 3 butterflies from a different shades of blue cardstock to adhere the wings on using multi matte medium.

With all the stamping and layers ready to go next up was assembly of the card. In order to make the word HI really stand out but not detract from the butterfly layers I used Versamark on the card base and applied some lovely dark blue metallic embossing powder and heat set it.  I used Tombow Extreme to affix the die cut floral layer to the front of an A2 sized side folding piece of Neenah Solar Crest 110lb cardstock. The butterflies were attached using Tombow glue and some Nuvo Drops in Midnight Blue applied to give the body and tips of antennae some detail.
